Elegant Design ... and fun, too!

02 Apr 2003 by DS

Not sure what the deal is with this site, but I find myself coming back again and again. The elegance, down to the pleasing color scheme and appropriate typefaces, is compelling.

And, it’s fun! Ya think?

I was listening to a song on WinAmp when that horrifying music started playing. I looked frantically for a "sound off" button. Failing to find one, I immediately closed my browser window to preserve my sanity.

Music on a web site should be OPT-IN only. Damn, I HATE that stuff.

Don as guest poster? April really is the cruellest month.

Don, you posted this thread, and now you say you hate something about it?

I'm having cognitive dissonance. And no, I checked, it's not my aneurysm acting up again.

And hey read a poem!

I hate it when my wife nags me, too, but that doesn't mean I don't love her. Sheesh.

It was funny seeing "DS" there. I usually read the post first and mentally guess who the poster is -- and usually it's pretty easy to guess since at this point the tastes and interests of the 37s guys are well known.

At first it was as if I were in dream. "Who the f*ck is DS?" I think, angry. It's not April 1 anymore, so it couldn't be that. I felt betrayed, disoriented. "This is not my beautiful 37signals."

A couple of seconds later and I saw the guest post blurb on the right and I felt much better. Don Schenck. Good ole Don Schenck. Don is no longer noise. He is signal.

Scott M. replaces "deck" (thankfully), which I think is very signal.
