Ive downloaded many print-quality photos for free at photocase. You can download up to 3 a day for free, and if you submit a photo which gets accepted, youll earn points, which allows you to download even more. Click on “pictures” to browse. Then click on “Mit Kommentaren”, “Sortiert nach Downloads” and “Sortiert nach Rating” in the left column to see the best shots.
Know of any english-speaking websites like this?

iStockPhoto is similar, but not as generous. You get a certain number of downloads (4 I think) then you can either purchase photos or upload your own, which earn you points when others download them. The photos are mixed quality, but there are some good ones.

I can vouch for iStockPhoto. Some of the images are roughly on par with PhotoDisc as far as quality goes. A lot of the pictures feel less "snapshoty" than the stuff at photocase.

nothing better than fotocase, u can use them commercial for free. greetings from a german user...
