Yahoo’s current stock quote page and Yahoo’s new, beta stock quote page. I like the bigger price (and automatic display of the after-hours price after-hours), but the functionality on the page feels disconnected. There’s lots of functionality, but it’s spread all over the place. The current design, while not as pretty or consistent with Yahoo’s new section-page designs, puts nearly all of the related information and actions together in a single grouping. Maybe I just need to get used to it. Your opinions?
I'm disappointed that Yahoo chose to move the news headlines related to the current symbol even further down than before. Nothing gives me more insight into the current trends and happenings of a company that the headlines associated with its business dealings.
I'd like to see those moved up, or at least a quick way to show/hide them without scrolling below the fold.
Having the links to the Quotes, Charts, etc. in the left nav is what bothers me. I guess I'm trained that info there is more related to higher level information, not the specific data on the page I am viewing. When looking at the info for the specific stock, I expect to see those links in the body of the page.
However, I do agree that the new table layouts, different colors, and larger fonts do make reading the quotes easier.

You're absolutely right. That was the first thing I noticed.
The new layout accommodates a 250x250 ad mid-content. Pure and simple. I'd bet that advertisement is 80% of the driving force behind the redesign--well, perhaps that and a need to pull the design out of 1998, but not as much.

I'd definitely bet that it is!
I think maybe it is a case that you've gotten used to it. I don't use Yahoo for stock quotes, so I'm pretty well looking at both pages for teh first time. I find the grid on the current iteration showing all the various stats (52-week high/low, P/E ratio, etc.) to look like someone just spilled the information on the page. There's nothing to distinguish one bit of info from another, and it all just kind of blurs together. Even the headings for the various numbers aren't called out to make for easy scanning.
The new page is much more readily scannable, which is a big plus. It doesn't both me much that headlines are lower on the page; I know they're going to be there, and giving an extra turn or two on the scroll wheel is pretty low on the list of problems plaguing my life. I can see an argument against putting all the fucntionality in the left, but I like the idea of grouping it together instead of scattering it around. The curious thing, though, would be to see if users expect functionality to be near the info they'd use it with, or just have a central place to find all of the functions. I guess it would play out differently depending on the user's frequency of use of the page.
