When in Doubt... Blame France

15 Jul 2003 by Scott Upton

It appears Tony Blair will blame France for Nigerian uranium confusion:

France is expected to be blamed for the split between the CIA and MI6 - on the grounds that Paris intelligence agencies shared hard evidence with Britain, but refused to show it to the US. Aides to both the Prime Minister and George Bush, the US president, are anxious to draw a line under the dispute before Thursday, when Mr Blair is due to address a joint session of the US Congress.

Gotta love the simplicity of this “solution” to the issue of who knew what when.

Why can't it be both?

Hey, the Brits have been blaming the French for centuries. We're not about to stop now, it's going so well.

*sigh*

As for fred's comment, I don't know about him, but every company I've been in where IA and UXP are brought up, things certainly turn political in a hurry. ;o)

some people can't stay on topic since human beings are naturally quite diverse. i'm sure mr. upton struggled with the decision to post or not. but it's clear to me that a site dilutes its brand when it deviates from its mission statement.

Mission statement? We've always posted a wide variety of material to SVN. Certainly, it has been more targeted to design and usability of late, but a quick look at the archives tells a more diverse tale:

But maybe those just diluted the "SVN brand." ;)

If people know you site as a Usability/Design targeted site, and you repeatedly post non-Usability/Design information, they will certainly be less likely to think of your site when an issue on this topic comes up. Seems pretty clear to me, but of course, it's your site. 8^)

If an application is designed well, the reward for users is that they will learn it faster, accomplish their daily tasks more easily, and have fewer questions for the help desk. As a developer of a well-designed application, your returns on that investment are more upgrade revenue, reduced tech support, better reviews, less documentation, and higher customer satisfaction. The rewards of building a good-looking Aqua application are worth taking the extra time.
