Announcing BloggingWorks Business Blogging Workshops

We’re teaming up with our friends at Coudal Partners to offer BloggingWorks — full-day workshops on the rapidly growing Web trend of business blogging. So far we’ve scheduled two dates: September 19 and October 3rd. Each workshop is limited to 30 people. The workshops will be held in Chicago. More details are available at the BloggingWorks site.

More and more businesses are reaping the rewards of business blogging, like increased project management efficiency, stronger team communication, and timely site updates. If you don’t know how business blogs can help your company, it’s time to get up to speed at a BloggingWorks workshop.

This is somewhat rhetorical, but it may apply to many people's situations...

Why should my boss send me to this workshop? What's the 25-words-or-less explanation?

I actually told my boss about the workshop on Friday. He's curious (which is a huge step in a positive direction), but I had trouble distilling what the workshop will cover beyond, "Learn how your business can harness the power of weblogs to improve communication and efficiency at this hands-on workshop."

I see the benefit, and I am trying to start a blog internally, but my first of many hoops to do it is getting permission.

Very cool, guys. I agree with Anil's statement on this; both Coudal and 37 use weblogs effectively and intelligently, and it's clearly the way that businesses should be thinking in the future.

You know what would be nice too is some sort of checklist to help you determine whether or not a blog is something that would be beneficial for your company.

One thing that's always annoyed me about conferences is that they make the technology du jour sound like it's the be all, end all and the answer to every company's ills.

If a company is unwilling to devote the time and resources necessary to maintain a Blog they probably shouldn't start one. Helping companies determine that in a very honest, forthright, 37signals-ish way would, I think, be a great help to many.

So, as a partial answer to fajalar question above, at least one answer could be "they'll help us make an honest, informed decision on whether or not a Blog makes business sense for our company."

Just a thought.

Thanks, ek. That would be a good idea. Because in reality I am sold. But I have to sell my boss. In my situation, I won't be able to influence my organization (waaaay too big), but I can (try) influence my boss for my area.

I think a blog would be helpful, but I'd rather have my company pay for me to go and for that I need to show exactly what I will get out of it.

I didn't see the "View full schedule & FAQ" link. I didn't think I would find anything by clicking the big Register Today image at the top.

Actually, Fajalar, I added that link yesterday. It wasn't there before. And, FYI, by adding that link, click throughs to the registration page have tripled. Small changes can make a huge difference.
