For the past few months we’ve been hard at work on something we’ve been calling Misto. We’re about ready to enter the beta stages and are seeking a few good folks to put it through its paces.
I can’t say much about Misto right now, but the type of people we’re looking for are freelance web developers/designers and small web firms (5 people max). Firms/teams with remote workers would also be good candidates. Beta testers will receive one year free upon release. Misto will be a web-based application/service.
If you are interested, email misto [at] 37signals.com. I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to get back to everyone, but those who are chosen will know shortly. Thank you.
I am guessing it's a project management and billing app - since most of them suck.
No use speculating, we might as well just wait and see what it turns out to be.
But in thinking over the kinds of products/services I'd like to see, one would be a Web-based version of something like FogBUGZ, which allows software developers to manage bugs, feature requests, client feedback, etc.
Such a tool would be useful for Web developers, especially far-flung teams, and I think I'd find it useful myself. Does anyone know if anything like that is available? My company developed one for internal use, but it's on Lotus Notes and kind of cumbersome.
Agreed. We have a home-built PHP version which always gets low priority and is rarely updated.
FogBUGZ promotes itself as being web-based. Are you wishing that a third party hosted it?
Could this be the "Stuff" manager Jeff hinted at in an April post?

Yeah, since FogBUGZ has to be hosted locally on a Windows 2000 server. But my point was more that it would be nice to have something like FogBUGZ that's designed specifically for Web developers. Maybe FogBUGZ is flexible enough that in fact it could be used for this purpose, not just for software development, I don't know. But if so, it's not marketed as a Web development management tool so I bet most people in the field don't know about it.
With apologies to the folks at Futurama...
Misto guy: "Well my curious friends, you've learned the secret of Misto. That concludes the portion of the tour where you stay alive."
Does anyone know if anything like that is available?
Bugzilla is pretty famous but you'll need perl.
It is/was being used for Mozilla.
I'm using phpBugtracker myself with redesigned templates, but I'm just starting to use it and it's not focused on websites. Phpbugtracker is based on bugzilla but it doesn't have all the features.
p8, Bugzilla definitely still *is* being used for Mozilla. ;-)
Everytime I think of Misto, I get this rumbling in my stomach. mmmmmm Misto is so tasty.
That's it, that's it! It's miso soup with tea in it (miso + t = misto).
They've gone all culinary on our ass: Misto
I have, er had a Misto. That claim on their site that "It really works" is true until you have to take it apart and wash it. Then it doesn't work so well.
It was cool while it worked though. Spray oil without aresol(sp?!).
The only things sadder than that pun is that I didn't think of it first.
