The first thing I thought after I read that physicists stopped light was “if someone on the street asked me to stop light, I’d have no clue where to start.” The second thing I thought of was that old joke, “How many physicists does it take to unscrew a lighbulb…”
I just turned off my lamp. It worked!!!
I just held up a mirror to my lamp and, look at that: it stopped light and made it move the other way! ;-)
When I read about this on Wednesday, I was floored. This is HUGE. Seriously.
"How do I shut down?"
"OK. Push the Start button, and the...."
"But I want to shut down."
"Right. Push the Start button, and then fin...."
"No, I want to shut down."
