The Building of Basecamp Workshop on June 25th sold out pretty quickly, but we’re still hearing from people who want to attend. We don’t want to add more seats on the 25th so we’re interested to hear if people who weren’t able to get in on the 25th would be interested in a session on Thursday the 24th. If so, please send us an email or post a comment here. Thanks.
Just out of curiosity, why don't you do these things as a Web-Ex type online presentation? You'd probably get much more response (although you're obviously getting good response) from people who want to hear what you have to say, but don't have the resources or time to get to Chicago from Europe (or Australia - as one person mentioned in a previous post), or in my case, Houston.
You'd still charge for "seats" to cover the Web-Ex expense, and probablymake more money because you'd be cutting down on your overhead costs - and you'd be doing the world a favor by saving numerous people gas usage to have your wisdom imparted upon them.
Just a thought. Sorry for the slightly off-topic post.
I reckon we're a lot of non-US readers both here at svn and at most weblogs - it's a very international thing really. A webbased presentation would be very interesting for be as well, being in Denmark it's $900 or so for a return ticket or so, just to get to Chicago.
I should read what I write! "very interesting for me as well" was, what I intended to say.
i was actually on the fence about the workshop. and when i finally decided to commit, it was sold out. If you decide to hold another workshop on the 24th, I'll gladly take a seat, so count me in. coming all the way from LA.

I would love to go. I am in a suburb of Chicago, so it is convenient, and it is exactly the type of work I am doing.
I just have to figure out the whole money thing. I may get my company to pay - and if not, I will pay myself. I feel it will be that valuable.
Unfortunately, you may need an answer quick. Let me know how quick you need an answer, so I can decide what to do.
Thanks.

Well, I'm not convinced there's enough value to grab from a 6+ hour WebEx-like presentation. I think the real value is in being there. The dialog, the conversation, the subtleties that you can only absorb from being in the room. Further, our presentations really aren't about slides or screens or bulletpoints (things that WebEx and other web-based conference/meeting sharing tools are good at) -- they are about ideas, conversations, stories, dialog, discussion, questions/answers, etc., and there's really no good substitute for just being there.
Anyone have any experience sitting through long web-based presentations or "Webinars" ?
I did a webinar some years ago - I don't think it was Web-Ex, but don't honestly remember. There was audio, my monitor was in synch with the speaker's powerpoint and their was an 800 number where questions / comments were taken live.
So, I think the conversational idea sharing hurdles can be overcome via an online presentation to some extent - but you're right, there's really no substitute for being there.
Plus, there's no complimentary beer.
What about a case-study/book, either printed or as a PDF? I'd definitely be interested in learning more, but the flight from New Zealand is just a little pricey.
Granted, it's not as good as being there, but it would be more enjoyable than a six hour webinar. I've sat through a couple of two hour ones and they start to drag, no matter how interesting the content.

We've considered writing a book about the entire process. We'll see how the workshop goes, then it's off to talk to a Publisher.
A PDF would be nice as long as it is free or reasonably priced =]
