Tell Me How Many Times I Screwed Up Please

14 Jul 2004 by Jim Coudal

I was last month’s guest here at SvN but since the guys didn’t turn off my account I’ll sneak this one in. Daniel Burka has made this post at Delta Tango Bravo about a contingency issue that has always bothered me.

“Hold on, did the page reload or is this the same message I saw a second ago?”

Hmm. The site appears to be down, displaying the text:

I already had (multiple times), getting the error each time, but I just tried again and got to the site.

We had an issue switching our database server a few minutes ago and hence Delta Tango Bravo was down for a bit. Sorry about that.

I had the same thing clicking on the "About This Site" in the right corner on the coudal.com. I clicked while looking at the status bar which states: "Open Pop-up" and expected to see a pop-up window. Not seeing the pop-up. I kept clicking with obviously no results. Only to find out later that "What's All This Then?" is the pop-up.
Maybe it was my anti-ad blindspot that reacts to unexpected flashing changes in headers.

Also the logo (http://www.coudal.com/i/crois/86342B.gif) is cropped 1 pixel too low resulting in a flat spot at the bottom.

Yeah, I've had that problem before. Whenever I find myself in such a situation, I always look at the nice little animated icon on the tab in Firefox. If the icon starts spinning immediately after I click on submit (or login, or whatever it is) then I know I'm ok. If I miss the little animation, well, then I'm not so sure. I receintly tried using a different browser which does not have this feature and I really felt lost a few times.

Maybe we should us the 37s "yellow fade technique."

So it is. Fixing that. Thnx.
