NPR’s online music show, All Songs Considered, offers songs picked by listeners, musicians, and staff as “the perfect song.”
"Mandy" by Barely Manenough. ;0
Big Bottom, Spinal Tap
(BTW, on the NPR site: is it me or does it seem like the "Artists" have better taste than the NPR Staff?)
I want to know where I can download the actual All Things Considered Jingle!
The Vivaldi song, on which Georges DeLeRoux's "Love's Not Like That", from the Little Romance soundtrack, is based.
It's on this Vivaldi for Relaxation cd I have, but there's no name. Plus, it's like pulling teeth trying to figure out the actual names of classical songs. Anyway, that gets my vote.
Please, if you know the "actual" name of this, please email me. Thanks
"Bellbottoms" by John Spencer Blues Explosion
or
"Sharp Dressed Man" by ZZ Top
I don't think I've ever heard either of these used on NPR, however. ;)
Why do these lists always have to have such obscure components? Are you totally devoid of cred if you pick something like "Where the streets have no name" or "every breath you take"?
Great link. I love song-compilations. Used to listen to this program when I was in LA. Anyone for the perfect compilation?
Tribute by Tenacious D ;-)
"Don't Explain" (Holiday/Herzog) is a perfect song.
Has anyone caught the Guitar Festival on PBS lately?
Talk about great music - Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, Buddy Guy, Joe Walsh...
I'm really surprised to see that the Blues in general haven't yet been "considered."
YoungHistorians: All Things Considered theme
I personally would have picked Dylan's Talking World War III Blues over Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues ... but that's just me ;-)
As a perfect song I would also add Patti Smith's Pissing in a River as Christ's lament to the world.
