Eugene Mirman

07 Dec 2004 by Matthew Linderman

NYC comedian Eugene Mirman has some real funny homemade videos at his site (go to the “New by Eugene” section).

Pretty wild fella. One of my favorites is Frank Caliendo. I was lucky enough to see him in person (and didn't even know who he was at the time) and now he's on the Fox NFL pregame show from time to time. His impressions of John Madden and Jim Rome are amazing. Check out his site.

Maybe it's my browser, but only two of the movies would open ("gun video" and "burt reynolds") and those weren't funny at all...

But I will take your word for it that if I could open the others, there would be coffee all over my monitor. ;-)

I used to work with Eugene in Boston. Very funny guy.

He actually converted his office into a bar. Blacked out the glass, neon sign, mixed drinks, the works.

Said one of his primary influences is Emo Philips.

Love that Motley Crue video.

Thanks for the tip. Two of them ARE linked on the image, which was why I was confused.

Actually, the Motley Crue one is pretty funny. And the "Art Video" definitely reminds me of some *awful* student films I've seen...

Earlier this year, Tom Coates of www.plasticbag.org rather ironically decided that the world needs a new scale upon which to measure how quickly an individual hears about big memes, which he called RHINE.

Quote: "Essentially, the longer it takes you to hear about rilly cool things on the interweb, the further downstream [of the river Rhine in Germany] you are considered to be - with all the commensurate anxieties about who has peed in your drinking water that involves. The novel factor in the scale is that your relative position can be identified with key cities along the Rhine".

The reason I'm pointing this out, is because Eugine Mirman's site did the rounds about two years ago (I blogged it around January 2002).

I don't want to sound aspertive, but it's interesting to see how long it has taken to reach an authoritative blog like SvN.

I wonder where that places you on the Rhine........?

:)

But it is a funny website, nonetheless.
