Shipping At The Right Time

14 Dec 2004 by Matthew Linderman

Wine.com offers two options for shipping during the holiday season: Ship it now or hold it for holiday delivery (the gift arrives between Dec. 20 and Dec. 24). It’s a nice way to reduce guesswork for holiday shoppers.

That's an awesome feature idea!

But I wonder what Fedex and others would think of this. If it became a common feature, you would expect greater amount of packages shipped closer to Christmas. Oh well. The shipping industry can deal with that one, it's not the interface designer's problem ;)

I think I remember CB2 offering that, too...

Agreed this is nice. However, in the last week I have had a terrible time with wine.com because their password recovery process has completely broken. This isn't the place for details but if you want a design not found piece, try pretending you have forgotten your password. Emails claim to have been sent but aren't. New passwords are "set up" but don't work. Etcetera.

Nice idea for people like Fedex / UPS, but wouldn't work in UK well... Royal Mail - 'nuff said.

Oh, to be able to order wine via post. *sigh*

Pennsylvania's adult drink industry is run by the government. Yuck.
