The only good thing about living in LA is KCRW, if you’re into indie rock or new music that’s just plain good, Nick Harcourt’s your guy on Morning Becomes Eclectic. 9-12(Los Angeles Time) M-F.

For me, my favorite is Anne Litt on Weekend Becomes Eclectic, Saturdays and Sundays from 2-5pm.

How good are these shows?

The DJs program it themselves, no playlists, just new music from all over the place…

Try it and see, I promise you won’t be disappointed, the simulcast streams are fantastic.

P.S. You’ve discovered the Brazilian Girls right? I mean everybody loves Brazilian Girls….

There’s plenty more that’s good to LA than KCRW, but the fact that I have it on in my car every day is definitely one of the best things about living in LA.

It’s the way radio should be: every show has its own distinct personality because each DJ does all their own programming, and often do it on the fly to fit whatever mood happens to hit them that day.

Oddly enough, while he gets all the attention, Harcourt is the worst of their DJs, as far as I’m concerned. He’s prone to playing the same thing over and over again, much more so than the others, and he flogs some really questionable stuff sometimes. But I’d rather listen to a station that takes risks and falls on its face sometimes instead of one that never stumbles because they never try anything to start with.
