As part of a mini hiring boom at Basecamp this year, CEO Jason Fried went looking for a position that had never existed before at the company: head of marketing. Email’s new heyday
Email sucked for years. Not anymore — we fixed it. HEY’s fresh approach transforms email into something you want to use, not something you’re forced to deal with.
Tried Basecamp lately?
Used an earlier version, but moved on? Heard of it, but never signed up? Today’s Basecamp will surprise you! It’s all-new, entirely modern, and unlike anything else.
Great Interview. I’m excited for the interview with Andy!
Btw, i got a question for the Mailbag Show to Jason: “If you haven’t met David back in the days, who would have done the programming for Basecamp? Would you have tried to do it yourself, outsourced or hired someone to do it?”
All the best from Germany.
Hiring an entrepreneur was a smart decision. It’s been my experience that being the first marketer in a business means you are going to get metaphorically beat up a lot. Having an ability to roll with the punches and write a new playbook will be critical.
Cheers,
Mike
