37signals ID launch
Start time: 0:26
We recently launched 37signals ID which gives customers one username and password for all their Basecamp, Highrise, Backpack, and Campfire accounts. In this segment, Jason and David talk about 37signals ID, what it means for customers, and what was surprising about the launch. Related links:

A new way of working
Start time: 7:05
Jason and David discuss how 37signals is now working in teams. A team is made of three people: One designer and two programmers. A system administrator will also assist the team when necessary. Each team will stay together for two months (a “term”). When two months are up, the teams split up and form again with different people.

on 20 Jan 10I like the new podcasts but I wish they weren’t always a reverberation of recent postings on the blog. Something fresh within the podcasts would make it more worthwhile to me. I already read your blog and I bet most others who listen to the podcast do to. Give us something new in the podcasts, something we haven’t already heard you say or write before!

on 20 Jan 10Denny/Chris: Not everyone reads the blog. Same thing with our email newsletters – many people who get the newsletters don’t read the blog.
We appreciate that you want more original content – and we have plans to deliver original content via the Podcast – but have a diverse audience that tunes in in different ways.
We talk about what’s on our mind and what’s important to us. Sometimes that means some folks may consider some content re-run material, but lots of other people will be hearing it fresh for the first time.
Further, when the topics are similar we try to go into more detail in the podcast than we usually do on the blog.
Hopefully you’ll stay tuned to check out future episodes. Thanks for reading and listening.

on 20 Jan 10I enjoyed the discussion about how the 37signals ID project let to the new team structure. Thanks for sharing.

on 20 Jan 10I agree with Denny that the podcast is just another distribution layer for the same content (which is fair enough but pretty boring for readers of the blog). Anyhow, the audio quality is not very nice. Please give us some more kb/s. The compression artifacts are annoying.

on 20 Jan 10It was interesting to listen anyway ;) So, stop to complain, guys ;)

on 20 Jan 10I can agree with what Sven and Denny have to say, but I have a different perspective.
I need to hear/read/see/experience something multiple times for it to really sink in. Like letting a podcast repeat multiple times in the background of my workday. I completely understand that it doesn’t work for you guys. But it’s really helpful to me to get the info multiple times.
The fair warning (release bulletin) for the podcasts on the blogs is a nice feature. It does make it easier to avoid repetitive content.

on 20 Jan 10Single sign on has worked flawlessly and has helped consolidate all of my different logins. Thanks for the awesome feature addition.

on 20 Jan 10It’s funny that many of you believe you’re the only customers that 37s will ever have. Don’t they take on thousands of new customers in any given month? This material is new to these people. And I’ve been with 37s for a couple years now, and I appreciate content in different formats-even if it touches on recurring themes, ideas-because my consumption need differ constantly. Surely the comments to posts here could be more original and significant than this?

on 21 Jan 10I can’t fucking wait for the all in one packages. I’ve been using Backpack to run my freelance design studio and it’s getting to the point where Highrise and Basecamp are looking like better options. At first I was running one project at a time so Basecamp was overkill. But now, I could use all three and would love to get a bulk rate and be able to integrate them.
Is this something in the pipeline? And if I am already of a subscriber of all three, will I benefit from the bulk rate?

on 21 Jan 10With your new team structures – are you guys doing pair programming? What are your thoughts on pair programming? I’ve done it before and quite liked it. I can’t say the cost for the client is certainly justified. But it did feel like the process was more efficient.
