This weekend during the Ravenswood Art Walk, I visited Lorna’s Laces. They hand-dye yarns in some really beautiful color combinations. I took some photos to share, because sometimes it’s nice to look at pretty things!
Designers, how do you put colors together? Where do you find inspiration?
Bonus points: can you think of a better name for a colorway than Zombie BBQ?
(That’s a trick question. There is no better name than Zombie BBQ.)

on 04 Oct 11Looking at the world around to get inspiration is an ideal way to get to a desired look and feel. I usually look at birds (I Google for them) and get colors from their feathers (which are indeed beautiful).

on 04 Oct 11Zombie BBQ color combination reminds me of one I did on a student color assignment I had while in art school. My teacher complemented that not everyone can pull off a great red-green combination. I just wish I had called my piece Zombie BBQ!
