Certainly one of the most creative concepts I’ve seen in a long time. What a kick ass idea. Here’s more pictures and information about the artist if you’re interested.

You’re reading Signal v. Noise, a publication about the web by Basecamp since 1999. Happy !

on 20 Mar 08Wow, they’re pretty impressive. A friend of mine does book sculptures and the amount of patience and perseverence required (not to mention a steady hand!) is quite phenomenal. Here’s some pictures: http://paintalicious.org/2007/04/25/georgia-russells-book-world/

on 20 Mar 08You musta been on some kinda drugs to think that up…what were you on, and do you have any more?

on 20 Mar 08Phil E. Drifter, you must be incredibly stupid if you think the actual creator of the book is here. If that was a serious question and not an attempt to get attention perhaps you should actually write to Brian Dettmer.

There’s always one in the crowd.

on 21 Mar 08Amazing artistic book art, not a wasted page and a story of its own, I will never judge a book by its cover again.

on 21 Mar 08Wow! This is impressive. Though i must say, i’m torn between this artistic display and the thought of doing that to a book…

on 23 Mar 08To those who are worried about ruining the books: I work at the family used bookstore and EVERY DAY people want to bring in old encyclopedia sets, Reader’s Digest Condensed books, etc. which we do not have room for. They say that they’ve tried to donate them everywhere, and everyone refuses. They will have to take them to be recycled, or to the dump. I’m talking TONS of old accounting textbooks from the 1970s! Stuff like that! Hundreds – every DAY. I say, turn them into art!
