The next 37signals Live will be tomorrow, August 26th at 11am central time.
The first two Live shows were general Q&As. This time we’re going to narrow down the focus to chapter 13 of Getting Real: Promotion. Generating buzz, getting press, promotion without a budget, launch, etc.
Come armed with questions and we’ll fire back answers. We’ll see you tomorrow at 37signals Live!

on 25 Aug 08Looking forward to it!

on 25 Aug 08Would be nice if you guys gave us more than a day of notice before the live shows.
Jeff Martin
on 25 Aug 08Tomorrow is Tuesday, not Wednesday :)
Now if you’re transforming the Getting Real philosophy to skip Mondays, then by all means carry on!
Juan Pablo
on 25 Aug 08Great, this time I will be online and available, with a bunch of questions to you!!
Anyway I would love to hear you in a technical live show

on 25 Aug 08I second the tomorrow-is-Tuesday comment :)
I know that 37signals Live is fairly new, but eventually some sort of pre-determined schedule would be great for those of us who don’t have the luxury of no meetings.
JF
on 25 Aug 08We fixed the tomorrow thing, sorry about that.
We do plan on setting up a regular schedule, but we’re still in the experimental phase right now.

on 25 Aug 08Any chance these live shows are recorded and hosted somewhere for those that can’t view the live show?

on 25 Aug 08I’m a big fan of 37signals products and have sent a lot of business your way over the past couple of years, but it concerns me that you’ve started to focus energy on this kind of self-promoting endeavor when your customer service seems to be declining. I notice that you’ve almost completely disappeared from the Backpack and Basecamp forums, where you all used to be considerably more active — this is easily confirmed by going to the “Recent Posts” pages and moving back in time — and I didn’t get any help with a recent problem I emailed support about. Backpack is serving wonderfully as my family’s intranet and my own organizer, but I’m increasingly nervous about what sort of help I could get if something goes wrong. These live shows look like misplaced priorities to me.
Jeff
on 25 Aug 08A suggestion: many of us use Google Calendar. Why not create a gcal event and provide a link? I assume gcal deals with timezones just fine.
JF
on 26 Aug 08Thanks for the feedback Alan and sorry to hear you had a bad experience.
For the record: Doing the Live show isn’t taking away from customer service. They aren’t related. Time spent on the show is not time taken away from customer support—they aren’t pulling resources from the same pie.
Our customer support response times and accuracy have never been better due to a variety of improvements we’ve made over the past few months. People are noticing the results.
We answer every email we receive—usually within an hour and definitely within the day. You may want to check your spam filter if you didn’t get a response from us. If you don’t see it there please email me directly (jason@...) so I can investigate why you didn’t get a response. We apologize in advance if it was our fault.
Re: Forums… The customer forums aren’t for official response (this is noted in the sidebar on the forum home page). The customer forums are in place for customers to help one another. We chime in from time to time, but official support is provided by submitting a support request via the support forms for each product. We’ve actually been spending less time in the forums so we can spend more time on direct one-on-one support through the proper channels.
Alan Jacobs
on 26 Aug 08Thanks, Jason, I will follow up with you. I do understand what the forums are for, but I had just noticed this change in your involvement. If you’re spending less time on the forums in order to spend more time on direct emails, I think that’s a great decision. Perhaps my experience was a one-off, but it came right after I upgraded my plan, which is unnerving.
JF
on 26 Aug 08Alan: Your experience should only get better, not worse. I’m very sorry it didn’t follow that pattern. Please do let me know if you don’t find our response in your spam folder. And thanks for upgrading.

on 26 Aug 08Thank you very much for choosing to cover this topic :) I’ll definitely watch this one!

on 26 Aug 08Is this today (Tuesday 26th) or tomorrow (Wednesday 27th)?
Mike

on 26 Aug 08Any chance that this show might be recorded? It would be nice to be able to watch it later since I don’t think I will be free to participate in the live show.
37 Signals Live has been awesome. Keep up the good work!
JF
on 26 Aug 08The last show was recorded.

on 26 Aug 08Hi guys,
Given the topic (buzz generation etc.), you might want to have a look at our twitter real-time tag cloud @ http://www.twitscoop.com – especially around c. 11am central time, I bet twitter will be all about you !
Not to mention twitscoop was built on RoR…
Please get in touch if you’re interested to know more!
Cheers Pierre

on 26 Aug 08JF- Thanks, I couldn’t find a link to it anywhere

on 26 Aug 0837 Signals Live is great :)
If it is possible to add some king of timer to see how much time is to the next show, because I live +/- 5 to 10 minutes from the nearest timezone in the list.
ptdorf
on 26 Aug 08Excellent! Pure insight!
I love you relaxed and “real” approach.
Tim
on 26 Aug 08Great job. Thanks for the specific topic. Is this available offline (text, podcast, etc)?

on 26 Aug 08How about a little more notice next time just incase everyone doesn’t check the blog twice a day. I would of loved to see this one.
JF
on 26 Aug 08Past shows are in the archive.
AndyW
on 27 Aug 08I would love it if you guys would host these online somewhere (itunes podcast perhaps?) so we could download. So far all of the shows have fallen at times where I’ve not been able to make it either due to meetings or a clash with my daily commute, but I really really want to listen to your shows!
Thanks in anticipation. :o)
J
on 27 Aug 08Andy, did you read this thread at all? Jason linked up the past shows multiple times already. You can watch a show even if you missed it.

on 27 Aug 08this was really good, I just watched the archived clip, as I can’t watch them live, anyway just wanted to say that having “themes” sounds like a great idea and I look forward to checking out what future brings. thanks.
James
on 27 Aug 08Got an idea for you guys. Why not take the questions you did not get around to answering on the LIVE feed and answer them on SVN. I think that would make a great follow-up post. But what do I know.

on 27 Aug 08Great broadcast. Just a note on company names:
There were several references to “oogle” “bazoogle”names… seemingly a reference to Google. But the word is a real name: 1 googol = 1.0 × 10100
They just spelled it wrong when acquiring the url … a great story! ...and also one in the same vein as 37s.
efpublishing
on 27 Aug 08ooops, that should be 1 googol = 1.0×10 to the 100th power
ep
on 28 Aug 08Loved the profanity. f…ing well done David. ;-)
I still think that there should be some way to vote and push questions on top of the list. Work on the frustration that everyone can experience for not having his voice heard during the live session. And please don’t call it a show, you’re not performing on stage but talking to your customers from your kitchen!
