Rollover menus can be finnicky but the ones at Threadless are very comfortable to use. Overall, Threadless is very disciplined about keeping the front page clean. You can actually read the whole thing. There aren’t any blocks full of links that you have to skip over and copy is kept to a minimum.

on 12 Nov 08my biggest grouse with rollovers is accessibility. sometimes i don’t want to use my mouse. what then?

on 12 Nov 08Why does the image thumbnail link open a new window of… itself? You’re slipping, 37, you’re slipping!

on 12 Nov 08Um, so I click on the article in my RSS reader, and I’m redirected to this page. I click on the image and I get… the image in a new window.
Even if the link opened a bigger version of what is in the thumbnail, why would I care? It’s a screenshot of a site. The thumbnail should take me to the site.
What the fuck, dudes? Come on!… Basic usability here…

on 12 Nov 08Your desire of not needing your mouse at certain times is (in my humble opinion) different from something being accessible.
I think that don’t wanting to use something is different than not being able to use it.
Don’t get me wrong: I think accessibility (and usability) are very good thing(s) and should be applied to every website/application/product to ensure everyone can acces and use it.

on 12 Nov 08The only thing they could do better is make the click target area larger, maybe with something like BigTarget.js

on 12 Nov 08I agree with Joe. In the past, as you pointed out before, they have been great with nice big click targets. But these menus go with the traditional “the words is all you get for a target approach”. Though there are some more drop down menus deeper in side when picking sizes or styles that have nice big targets. Also that Join Now in the top right is annoying. You hover over it and it drops down like the menus, but then as soon as your mouse enters into the dropped area it disappears. Good stuff, but some inconsistency was introduced that I’m sure those guys will improve.

on 12 Nov 08@Nikita Who peed in your Cheerios? Click on the Threadless link 3/8” down and 1” to the right. Basic problem solving, dude.

on 13 Nov 08@Jeff: If this was on a website of a web firm lesser than 37signals I wouldn’t have said a word.
Details, dude.
