on 18 Dec 08It’s surprising that not a single person in that picture is carrying a shield of any kind.
I guess it would slow you down, and be somewhat of a pain to carry, but carrying a heavy shield around with you would be a lot less painful than getting shot with an arrow, IMO.

on 18 Dec 08@Tanner: Huntards can’t equip shields, noob.

on 18 Dec 08I’m moar surprised that not one of them has his pet out. But maybe the pets are already nomnoming on the Kalenjins.
Randy
on 18 Dec 08I understand that red is a traditional Maasai warrior color, but it would also seem to make for a stand out target against the green grass.

on 18 Dec 08It’s all about staying agile!
Sorry, couldn’t resist.

on 18 Dec 08Okay, my stupid joke aside, it is really fascinating to see bow and arrow battles go down in the age of guided missiles and remote-controlled drones. I like the juxtaposition of old technology with modern time periods, and I could see it as a fun setting for a video game or something.

on 18 Dec 08I’ve seen Return of the Jedi. This all ends well.

on 18 Dec 08Great link, really amazing pictures.
Michael
on 18 Dec 08Is this before the battle? I don’t see any arrows coming their way and nobody is hit.
Alaras
on 18 Dec 08That’s true Michael, maybe it’s LARP-style and the ones that are “hit” based on dice rolls lay down and pretend to be dead.

on 19 Dec 08@Randy, at bow and arrow range, most people with even half-good eyesight should be able to see another person on an open field, whatever colour they are dressed in.
