on 25 Jan 07Presentation is everything. I’ll take mine with the house salad and the Australian Westend Estate Sauvignon Blanc Semillon.

on 25 Jan 07Thanks for posting these. When I first saw the images I thought, oh a typical blog tactic for being different/whacky/offbeat, but then I really looked at them. My apologies: they are extraordinary. I should have known 37signals wouldn’t go for the cheap shot for effect.

on 25 Jan 07Chickens were free-ranging Asian forest birds before they were domesticated, and therefore originally had a considerably wide range of appearance and beautiful plumage.
That was, before we turned them into food making machines. These are remnants of what they once were, but also what most chickens could look like if we didn’t treat them so poorly: http://www.nocagedeggs.com/

on 25 Jan 07Nice! The simplicity and complexity of that subject was fun for our chicken-themed art exhibit back in 2004:

on 26 Jan 07Fabulous! If you like chicken glamour shots, check out the happy little short film “Chickens in the City” on the Independent Lens web site. The Independent Lens online short film festival is my new favorite thing.

on 26 Jan 07An episode of the radio program This American Life included an entertaining behind-the-scenes segment about this photographer: http://www.thislife.org/pages/descriptions/03/252.html
It’s nice to finally see her pictures after hearing this years ago.

on 26 Jan 07I wonder if these chickens sound the same as barnyard chickens? Cluck, cluck, cluck…baaak!

on 26 Jan 07I’ll take the hackle feathers of these birds—should make for some spectacular fishing flies…
