Writeboard, our simple collaborative writing tool just received a long requested feature: Autosave. Every 10 seconds your latest version is saved so you don’t lose any work if your browser window closes, crashes, or otherwise doesn’t cooperate.
Autosave is included in standalone Writeboards, and Writeboards that are integrated into Basecamp and Backpack. We hope you find autosave valuable.

on 08 Feb 08Fantastic, thanks!
I presume autosaves count as minor edits, and don’t create new versions of the document?

on 08 Feb 08Cool. Would be great to get this on Basecamp messages as well.

on 08 Feb 08I have yet to figure out what I’d use Writeboards FOR. I’m not a collaborative writer, I guess!

on 08 Feb 08The next feature has got to be able to have multiple people editing a writeboard at the same time! I have this problem with some of my groups, they usually turn to google docs.
good work guys.

I use them all the time even when I’m the only writer. Just having an online place to write and keep notes on what you’re writing is incredibly helpful. And autosave is very welcome.

I use them for keeping notes on a job. If details come in via e-mail, phone, or other means, I jot them down in a Writeboard to keep things all together. Of course, I’m also using them for drafting/editing copy.
Nice!

on 08 Feb 08Working at MIT I use them to keep all the boilerplate I update for the department brochures, website, degree requirements, etc.
Erik
on 08 Feb 08Thanks! I’ve found writeboards useful in the past but kind of drifted away from them lately. This is a good incentive to use them again.
Glad I subscribe to svn, too…wouldn’t have thought to check otherwise.

on 08 Feb 08What do you think about a css selector for a greater text?

on 08 Feb 08I love Writeboard. The only thing keeping me from using it more often is that I prefer writing in Markdown.
