A tangent but curious: It would be neat to hear 37signals’ thoughts on making Draft a native app. vs. a web app. Considering one of Draft’s big features is posting to Campfire means that it directly benefits from web connectivity. Add to that David’s famous derision of offline access proponents I think that availability of web access is of less consideration in the decision to go native than folks might initially assume.

Sorry for taking such an obvious shot on the offline thing, hope it’s not troll-duncecap-able. I really think it would be interesting discussion on why ipad==native while laptop==web. Or is it just plain obvious and I’m the last to know?

I agree and I feel that it also goes very well with Flipboard being an iPad app, since one way that Apple has described surfing the web on the iPad is that you have indeed the web right in your hands.

It also makes sense for them in the way they want to be a mid-point between paper magazine and digital content.

It’s a great metaphor. It’s been in use on Windows Mobile devices for email for quite a while, now, though. Email previews are like letters that you can flip through.

But everything is (apparently) so much cooler and innovative if it’s on the i[Phone|Pad]...
