Just took an Uber Black Car to the office today and noticed that they round down the price and make it clear on the receipt. $21.00 is definitely more luxurious than $21.71. Nice touch.
You’re reading Signal v. Noise, a publication about the web by Basecamp since 1999. Happy !

on 31 Jul 14I recently tried Uber for the first time and also noticed and loved this detail. UXPA Boston had provided a $20 off code and my $20.16 trip to the bus station was rounded down so my card wasn’t charged at all. Great first experience.

on 31 Jul 14They increase the fare by 30% and then give you 50 cents back so that you feel good. Don’t you feel like a loser?

on 31 Jul 14@Ted You just wasted everyone’s time as well as your own. Don’t you feel like a loser?

on 01 Aug 14@Ted, the entire business model of credit and loyalty card companies is based on doing that. It’s nice to see people clueing into this kind of thing every once in a while.

on 03 Aug 14If they had rounded up to $22.00 would it have been a nice touch?
